Muslims usually interpret the verse from sura Saf as Jesus literally predicting the name of the prophet that would come after him. What would be the equivalent of that Arabic name in Jesus' tongue? Also it could cause confusion since anyone using that name could claim to fulfill the prophecy.
Almost all if not all Arabic names have a meaning. "Ahmad" is a superrlative of hamd (to praise) and means worthy of praise/much revered. I believe the prophet Jesus is simply stating in that verse that the name of the prophet that would come after him will be worthy of praise/much revered. The final prophet fulfills this prophecy everyday and anyone can objectively witness it.
"wamubashiran birasulin ya'ti min baadi ismuhu ahmadu"
"and giving the good news of a rasul after me whose name shall be worthy of praise/much revered"
