Quotes in Italics?

As'salamu alaykum,

why is it that when you click the "quote" option and quote someone in your post piecemeal, the first portion of the quote is always in italics?

It's due to how quotes are displayed; lemme splain ya.
If a quote is attributed to someone, the quote will be displayed in italics, regardless if it's the first, second or last "quote". The "blue arrow" will point to the post containing the quote in question, the blue GFX is the link.

Of course. I feel a little dumb for not figuring that out. I should have noticed the difference. Then again, I've never understood much about computers. That's why my website hasn't been updated in years. xp2 has a tendency to disappear from the face of the earth, and though he's tried to give me tutorials, there are complications involved.

But really, why should quotes attributed to a person be in italics? And other quotes not be? I don't get the rationale.
