It is a puzzling thing. The truth knocks on the door and you say, 'Go away, I'm looking for the truth.' and so it goes away. Puzzling.

" Prophets or interpreters of dreams may promise a miracle or a wonder, in order to lead you to worship and serve gods that you have not worshipped before. Even if what they promise comes true, do not pay any attention to them. The Lord your God is using them to test you, to see if you love the Lord with all your heart. "

The vigor and stability of our faith depends upon worship and good deeds. Muslims who neglect the religious obligations may end up doing little more than speaking well of certain ancestors who lived a disciplined, religious life. Faith not nourished by worship and good deeds eventually dies.

Praying five times a day strengthens our faith and renews our covenant with God. As long as we worship with an alert and conscious intent, we receive assurance from God and thereby strengthen our will and ability to fulfill our obligations. [M. Fethullah Gulen]

For every minute you remain angry you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind. If a small thing has the power to make you angry, does that not indicate something about your size.

    JUST FOR TODAY

Just for today Iwill hold my head high,
    and forget my problems,
Ican smile and make everyone else's day better,
even if behind that smile I cry.

Just for today Iwill walk away from a fight,
though I may feel hurt inside.
    Iwill ignore what is said,
    and continue on peacefully.

Just for today I will set an example,
when I feel the need to hurt.
I will laugh and walk away,
    people will admire me more.

    Once Science said to Faith:

    "My eye can see all that is in this world;
The Entire world is within my net.
I am only concerned with material things,
What have I to do with spiritual matters?
I can strike a thousand melodies,
And openly proclaim all the secrets that I learn."

    Faith said:
"With your magic even the waves in the sea are set ablaze,
You can pollute the atmosphere with foul, poisonous gases.
When you associated with me, you were light,
When you broke off from me, your light became fire.
    You were of Divine origin,
But you have been caught in the clutches of Shaytan.
Come, make this wasteland a garden once again.
Borrow from me a little of my ecstasy,
And in the world set up a paradise.
From the day of creation we have been associates,
We are the low and high tunes of the same melody."

While we cannot resemble the Messenger (peace and blessings upon him) physically, we can -- and should -- try to resemble him in our behavior and actions. Doing so is our way of promising God that we will do good deeds, that He may protect us from Hell.

Islam teaches that virtue also consists in avoiding sins. Pursuing virtue, whether by observance or avoidance, prayer and remembrance, or establishing the Revealed Law and justice, are essential elements of Islam's unity. Such unity is integral, for one part cannot be separated from another.

While even the wisest philosophers have gone astray, the most ordinary Muslims have been able to lead upright lives because they follow the clear way of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him). Muslims who seek God's approval and take the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) as their guide can lead a most fruitful life, one in harmony with their deepest nature as responsive and responsible creatures of God. [M. Fethullah Gulen]

I find this a little puzzling. The writer seems to be saying that when we get to heaven God will ask Muslims 'were you like Mohammed?" as if we in someway are all the same and not entirely unique human beings. Surely, God will ask are we like ourselves, did we grow to be what God desires for us and us alone. The Christian will Say that Jesus is in us but fully knowing that will free us from our ego and let us truly be who God wants us to be.
