Salaam brother Sifuu.(if u are a brother!
)
Welcome to the forum. We hope u will have a good stay with us. Well as far as Shariah is concerned, u shouldnt talk excessively with the opposite gender, especially idle talk, flirting and so on...
The same thing applies whether u talk on phone, on the net, on msn or wateva really. But look here. We have sisters here. They talk. But u see that is allowed due to the fact that this is Islamic talk as opposed to rubbish. I hope ive answered ur question.
May Allah help us all.

Salaam,
Preach? Yes and no. As long as there is a barrier between u (which can also be the hijab) there is no reason why u cannot preach. I preach all the time to sisters, behind a screen. Where the brothers are in front and the sisters are behind the screen. Is this then forbidden? Also i came across a hadith that the prophet (s.a.w) was visited by a slave woman who wanted to speak with him, so he went and asked her to sit and he sat next to her and heard her. Obviously this is not encouragement to talk to women, rather that for the sake of dawah, as long as there is a purdah between u, it is permissible. And Allah subhannahu wa ta'ala knows best.

Yeah , Ashhad lured me to reply that "non-issue", yeah i thing it is,
There is no restriction to talk to gules , nno mater na mehram or mehram as long as ur intent is reasonable.
Also, it is noticable that we cant help talking girls while in the university, family cousins etc.. it is not prohibbted at all.
Only the thing should be consider in this regard , the eiquete described in Sura'h Noor. Dats it. No argue

Salam..
i m agreed with Sheikh Haroon but not with ROSEWELL
bcoz we cant chat with Non-Mehram without Hijab, n it is " better" to preach non-mehram girl VIA same gender.
Sheikh Sahab U r doing a gr8 work but Shaytaan is our enemy, He decorates his ideas in different ways and fashions, some times in Islamic avenues too.
Therefore Scholars (Ulama) suggest you abstain from any contact with any ghair mahram, as that is prohibited in Shariah.
It is narrated from Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) that a man and woman do not seclude themselves except Shaytaan interferes with them, i.e. by causing them to do Haraam. So, even though you have noble intention it is possible that Shaytaan can put evil thoughts in your heart. (sorry dont mind)
n ROSEWELL
FeMale cousins are also Ghayr-Mahrams. So, it will not permissible to speak to them. Rather, if none in the family is observing Purdah, you could obtain Kitaabs explaining the importance of Purdah and hand it out to them.

Welll Ashhad u take kinda wrong interperetion of HIJAB
Formal Mullas made it so controvercial, I've read that topic in a concise way.

I've read that Purdah thing .......
God said "lower your graze", it actually means that dont make dirty sight upon girl
Now it makes a sense, but your intenstion about not to SPEAKING to Na-Mehram pretend to make this world GENDER oriented, it doesnt make any sense
I too, know, You just said that DONT talk to guls, but even you have no control yourself too to prevent you speaking,
I've read all Hadith in this regard, but you should consider those Ahadith in the light of "common sense"

Salaam brothers,
Well i agree with Brother Asshad, cousins are ghair-mehrams and spending time with dire neccesity with the opposite sex, is wrong. Highly discouraged. Brother Roswell, perhaps i misunderstand ur words but u should really, never ever talk to a girl, na-mehram unless there is some urgent neccesity, URGENT neccesity. I also affirm the hadith which brother Asshad mentioned. When there are 2 people, a man and a woman, together alone, the devil is indeed the 3rd present. And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows best.

Ha ha. You are most amusing brother, not being allowed to talk to girls is extreme?! Ha ha!!! Im feeling incredibly amused by this. No offence! I believe that this is a western theory and ideology, how many decent islamic people do u see talking to women? And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows best.

I'm not supposed to be an amusing person, lol
I believe that this is a western theory and ideology,
Evry poeple dont have any no mrore things to argue, blaims westrn society... how easy that is , aint it ?
how many decent islamic people do u see talking to women
What do you mean Islamic people ? are they coming from Hevanes ? or aint they ordinary poeple like me ? or who else ?
neverthless, i ve seen so many times brother haroon, I've even seen Shaking hand with girls , YOUR DECENT ISLAMIC POEPLE

If its a social act, let it be, no harm over ones feeling
You can read "A Muslim Woman" by Maulana Wahiduddin Khan on Hijab n Purdah issue
