Assalaam-o-alaikum, I am a new member to this forum and this my first post here. I have a question about the Reception given by the groom (Man) after the marriage. I understand that, that "reception" is one of the Sunahs of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). What are the pre-conditions of that reception in terms of the relationship between a husband and a wife? I've heard that, husband and wife have to have a physical relationship with each other before the reception otherwise it will be not right. Is this true? The reason I am asking this is that mine and my wife's family want to give a common/combined reception for our marriage that will include both the reception from the girl and guy. We Is this ok according to Islamic Sharia.
