Syaitan has always lived since the time Allah swt created him. syaitan is the king of all devils and in fact there is a devil born every time a child is born. Syaitan has lived and will live on from even before Adam was risen from earth until the Day of Judgement.

However, Syaitan has always had his place in Hell. After the Day of Judgement, Syaitan will continue to be in hell. Syaitan is a creation of Allah, just like man, angels and jinn. If u had thought that syaitan is ever living, then y aren't angels ever living too? So, no worries, Allah created him and Allah can destroy him.
Life is unfair. Allah's Judgement is not.

    Salaam All,

And surely, We created you (your father Adam) and then gave you shape (the noble shape of a human being), then We told the angels, "Prostrate to Adam", and they prostrated, except Iblees (Satan), he refused to be of those who prostrate.

(Allah) said: "What prevented you (O Iblees) that you did not prostrate, when I commanded you?" Iblees said: "I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay."

(Allah) said: "(O Iblees) get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced."

(Iblees) said: "Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)."

(Allah) said: "You are of those allowed respite."
    [Surah Al-A'raf, 11:15]

The above verse can be taken as its literal meaning and hence Allah has exceptionally increased his age till the judgment day however, it can be a symbolic meaning as in its the mission of Satan, not explicitly himself. Maulana Amin Ahsen Islahi tends to agree with the latter. Never the less, whichever way you incline to, we should not let Satan(s) to interrupt our nafs and should be aware. Allah will never ask about the Satan's age but he would definitely ask as how had we taken care of ourselves preventing from Satan attacks.

    Regards,

shah i did not mean to imply that satan is ever living.

i think that Allah giving Satan a reprieve until the day of resurrection is a good point.
