Default al-Qaida's court decides Ihab al-Sherif's fate

The captors of Egypt's top diplomat have threatened to kill him because Egypt has allied with "the Jews and Christians", a statement posted on an internet site associated with al-Qaida in Iraq has said.

The statement on Wednesday said al-Qaida's religious court had decided to hand over Ihab al-Sherif, who was seized in Baghdad on Saturday, to its fighters "to carry out the punishment of apostasy against him".

"The sharia court of the Al-Qaida in Iraq organisation has decided to transfer the apostate ambassador of Egypt, which has allied itself to the Jews and Christians, to the mujahedeen to carry out the punishment of apostasy against him," the statement said.

The statement appeared on the same website which earlier showed photos of al-Sherif's ID cards and also included a speech purportedly by al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi rejecting any moves to end the fight against US and Iraq forces here.

Three days after al-Sherif was seized, gunmen fired at diplomats from Bahrain and Pakistan in what officials
suspected were attempts aimed at isolating Iraq's US-backed government in the Islamic world.

"These embassies are nothing but observation posts to hunt down the foreign mujahedeen by following them, standing in their way and preventing them from communicating with the brothers of jihad and faith in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere," the statement said.

    Meetings

Iraq's Interior Minister, Bayan Solagh, meanwhile said that some foreign diplomats in Baghdad have held meetings with armed groups and that they bear responsibility for their actions.

"We have some information that some ambassadors are meeting terrorists and they bear the responsibility for that"

    Bayan Solagh,
    Iraqi Interior Minister
"We have some information that some ambassadors are meeting terrorists and they bear the responsibility for that," he said.

Asked if he was referring to al-Sherif, Solagh said: "I'm not talking about a particular incident. The Egyptian ambassador went to a hot spot alone and he bears responsibility for that."

Al-Sherif was abducted on the capital's west side after stopping to buy a newspaper.

Iraqi government spokesman Leith Kubba said on Tuesday that al-Sherif's security may have been compromised because of his contacts with political groups close to the insurgency.

Halima is going to make a dismissive remark and nobody else will comment or offer an opinion?

I am gainst Al Qaida that's all I know. Its a terrorist organisation. It has never done anything helpful to Islam rather the opposite. They are Islam's enemies because they give a chance by creating violence to others who hates Muslims and its easy for that person to annihilate or "liberate" Muslims with the help of Al qaida.

Now we know how the "holy" mujahideen operate...by pronouncing takfeer on people...and then killing them...
They ARE NOT the Holy Mujahideen.Same or more bad as Bush and his "forces of good."

It may be a dismissive remark, but it is the best reply to one of these islamophobe crap threads, total disregard for common sense.

    Salaam Hashim,

dismissive remarks do not make for intelligent or fruitful dialog.

of course, that may not be the goal.. but... seeing as this is a *discussion* forum, it would seem to be good form to at least attempt a discussion.

thus far... what i can really see quite clearly is that when NewsX posts, it is rare than anyone actually comments on the content of the post. far more often, it is NewsX that is personally attacked.

whilst this may seem to be a valid discussion tactic it is, in reality, simply character assassination.

i submit that i am not like most beings.. and thus, i find the dismissive comments and personal attacks leveled against NewsX actually tend to support her points, rather than correct any misconceptions.

however... Hashim, and i don't mean to single you out by any means...

do you not see your own double standard at work here? you complain about "islamaphobes" yet, you yourself are an "americaphobe". i hope the irony is not lost on you in this instance.

    metta,

    ~v

I know I'm a little late but it looks like I have to defend myself and Hash.

First and foremost nobody always have to reply to my remarks either they speak good words or they remain silent. That goes for you to aswell my dear.

Secondly, the article that she posts are very informative but the comments that goes with it is not very fruitful. In this case it annoys Hash, which disturbs me.

Me and Hash have been personally attacked and what do you say about that huh? Incase if you are not aware Vaj, she is not the only one who have been "attacked" When people debate with each other than obviously that is what will occur! You must not have debated much in the past have you?

    Aslaam Alaykum

Respected sister, jazakallaaheir for defending me and yourself. This is unity amongst muslims, even if it is just two people, one sticking up for the other, this is unity, imagine if the whole ummah was like you sister, subhanallaah. May Allaah azzawajjaal reward you, and shower blessings upon you.
