HELP PLEASE!!! brothers and sisters After the fajir salat i sat down and decided to masturbate for no reason i ejaculated and now i regret it and ask for allah's forgivness but since it is ramadan i did not know what to do i went online some say i have to fast after ramadan for 60 consecutive days and others say my fast is rendered invalid and i should repeat that fast after ramadan ends im confused which 1 is right ???

Salem, I am not a Muslim...I am a follower of Jesus-as-God.

If you hold Allah is all gracious/forgiving...why cannot you simply hand this matter over to him in prayer...relying on his grace and favour...?

This is what I do...and freedom and release (no pun intended!) is found in such a prayer. Of course, if this not the case, then you'll need to apply all of the complex rules to get you out of this awful bind. To me, that is pretty sad.

To answer your question: your fast clearly was broken by the act and it is something you should avoid in the future. You definitely have to make-up your fast and whether or not you owe an additional kaffara is a matter of dispute - as such, I would not purport to solve the problem for you. In such situations, the right answer is the one that you hold as a conviction and act upon. Whether or not you simply make it up later or make it up along with a kaffara is something you need to figure out of yourself. As such, I would recommend that you go to your local mosque and learn the rules of the fast so that in the future, you are not confused about such matters again. Masturbation is NOT the same as having sexual intercourse, therefore you do not have to fast for 60 days consecutively. The 60 days ruling is specifically for having sex and nothing else. So what you have to do is repent, do good deeds and make up that one day of fast you broke, that is all.

Indeed it is not, but sexual intercourse is not the only thing that requires a kaffara. Whether or not a person owes kaffara for masturbation is a long standing disagreement and in such situations, it is best for a person to consult their local scholar and follow their advice.

It is not a matter of enough good deeds, rather, the attempt and following the way of Allaah's Messenger

Praying five times in itself can be sufficient, or praying in the depths of night. Allaah's Messenger also stated "If anyone performs the ablution perfectly, his sins will come out from his body, even from under his nails." - Saheeh Muslim

It can be anything related to forgiveness and taking those steps, and we are not required to know how much good we have to wipe out that bad deed

In Shafi'i fiqh, the only thing that requires kaffara in obligatory fasts is sexual intercourse. Masturbation, although clearly unlawful, is not considered intercourse All other inexcusable broken fasts have to be made up, but there it is a sin regardless and should be accompanied by tawba (repentance).

As is obvious from the hadith, the Prophet (S) did not specify an actual kaffara for the breaking of the fast, and this too was for sexual intercourse. He recommended a means based upon the man's own capacity, after the man came sincerely seeking repentance to God Almighty.

The idea that one has to fast for sixty consecutive days is actually not established by the shareeah conclusively. This kaffara that is normally established for seixty days is actually for the following:

And (as for) those who put away their wives by likening their backs to the backs of their mothers then would recall what they said, they should free a captive before they touch each other; to that you are admonished (to conform); and Allah is Aware of what you do.
But whoever has not the means, let him fast for two months successively before they touch each other; then as for him who is not able, let him feed sixty needy ones; that is in order that you may have faith in Allah and His Messenger, and these are Allah's limits, and the unbelievers shall have a painful punishment.

What is actually quite interesting, and amazing is the 'laughing' of the Prophet (S) at the man's reasoning and he (S) did not return any 'harsh demeanor' or condemnation. Not only that, he (S) provided the dates on which the man would give sadaqah.
You have already felt bad and it is clear you are troubled. Do what is in your capacity with a sincere heart towards God and remember also, the laughter of the Prophet (S), who feared God more than anybody else. And don't despair over the mercy of God.
