Default What is the difference between Judaism and Islam?

The oldest available Jewish manuscripts go back 1000's of years so there is no way they have been manipulated by Christians.

It seems most Muslims take old testament scripture seriously.

What then is the difference between Judaism and Islam?

If you respect the old testament scripture what was the purpose of Muhammad retelling it differently?

More importantly, why does it look as if Muhammad was influenced by the biblical scriptures and then reinvented them?

You're confusing a number of different issues here. Firstly, what Muslims believe in, or "take seriously" if you will, is the original Torah revealed to Moses (peace be upon him) on Mt. Sinai. What is called the Torah today is only the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. The remaining books have very little (if any) relevance to Muslims.

The difference between Judaism and Islam is quite simple: Moses (peace be upon him) was sent to the Children of Israel specifically; the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent to all of humanity.

The Qur'an is the criterion for whatever is in today's Hebrew Bible. In principle, whatever it contains that does not conflict with the Qur'an may be true; it's not for us to either accept it or deny it. If there is a conflict on the other hand, then the Qur'an is the truth without question.

If you believe that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was "influenced" by the Bible, then that's your prerogative. The claim is highly speculative, but if you deny his (peace be upon him) prophethood, then naturally you have to come up with some other explanation, no matter how improbable.

Another classic trolling thread - aimed at baiting rather than debate.

Truth should answer the question 'what is the difference between Christianity and Judaism?' and should tell us whether he follows all the instructions in the manuscripts that he refers to that predate Christianity. If not why not?

If it is because he believes the prophecies that Jesus fulfilled are true and follows the message of this later messenger of God, then he has his answer. Islam fulfils the prophecies found in the Bible.

    Cheers,

    Assalam O Allikum
Major difference between Islam and Judaism is ,Islam is full code of life and provide the direction how to live life in good way. other differences are as follow.

Judaism is the oldest of all the Abrahamic religions. Its founding prophet is Moses, who had been chosen by God to lead the Israelite slaves out of Egypt. Camped under Mount Sinai, Moses gave the Israelite slaves the Torah of their God, and after wandering in the desert for 40 years, they went to live in what is now known as Israel, which they believe is God's gift to them.

Jews trace their Abrahamic lineage through his son, Isaac.

Islam was founded by Muhammad in the year 622. Muhammad believed that God chose him to be his prophet and to reveal to his Arab countrymen that there is only one God. Muhammad wrote down the revelations he believed he received from God and called it the 'Qur'an.'
