Default Ayah refuting sunnis and their dajjals

This ayah refutes the deviant sect Ahl usunna wal jama and their evil scholars who make differing permissible.

    Allah said

And if your Lord had willed, He could have made mankind one community, but they will not cease to differ. Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them. But the word of your Lord is to be fulfilled that, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together."
"O people! I have left amongst you, that if you cling onto, you will not go astray. The Book of Allah and my Sunnah, live by it!" [Prophets last sermon. Ibn Hazm al-Ahkam 6/108, ibn Hisham sirah #1999]

er, you forgot to mention (maybe did not reflect) that this understanding is based on the presumption taht Ahlus Sunna wal Jamaah are differing from you, and you are obviously in the correct position (sic)..

this verse like all the other verses of Quran were revealed in the life time of prophet pbuh. Are you saying that whilst prophet pbuh was alive we had sunni and shia sects?

The prohibition is general to all sects. Sunnis are no different from jews and Christians.

Am I right in my understanding that for shia Muslims the kalima and azaan both have addition of Ali Wali ullah. My query is that is there any evidence to suggest that in the life time of prophet pbuh azaan and kalima was recited with this addition? if not is it not an innovation in religion?

    As salamu `alaykum,

From what I understand, the Shi`a instead add the statement "Hayya'ala Khayril 'Amal" with the affirmation of Ali's wilaya being recommended as a general statement and not actually a part of the adhan.

Bro does that not constitute innovation?

The essence of the statement is true, but adding it to the adhan is clearly a sectarian, serving no practical function, as no one in the body of Islam denies the wilaya of Ali. As it conflicts with the Prophet's directives and the collective sunna of the Companions, along with serving no practical function and having no precedent whatsoever in the hadith, "innovation" would seem to be the appropriate description. Interestingly enough, some Shi'a apparently prefer it not be articulated aloud since it is not considered part of the adhan.
