So if Muslims can deal their wives they are allowed to marry up to 4 women, I think Muslim who married more then one wives thought they could so they got married with 2 or 3 or 4 wives. However, the lord of Islam, Allah think otherwise. And most amazingly its in the same Sura !!

"04:129 You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try. Therefore, do not be so biased as to leave one of them hanging (neither enjoying marriage, nor left to marry someone else). If you correct this situation and maintain righteousness, GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful."

Varese 4:3 is talking about marry two , three and four women , if the husband can maintain equability between them .

On the other hand verse 4:129 is talking about the case when there uncomfortable relation may arises between husband and wife . The verse is saying that if the husband feels that he can’t manage to continue equability among his wives at all and the concerned wife is feeling oppressed for that , then the husband and wife must take their relation to an end through amicable separation .

[004:128] And if a woman fears from her husband perverseness or aversion, it is no crime in them both that they should be reconciled to each other, for reconciliation is best. For souls are prone to avarice; but if ye act kindly and fear God, of what ye do He is aware.

Hence the context of verse 4:3 is marriage and the context of verse 4:129 is divorce and no problem with them as you thought .
