Dear Techies

How does one download a discussion thread? I find many very valuable to store for the long term. I would want to be able to save them in word format, if possible. Pls advise

Salaam,

I am not sure how you would go about that, except to click File > Save As in your web browser. This would save all the files to your computer, including the images and layout, but you must do this for every page in the thread. Another option is to find the "edit with" icon, its at the top of most browsers, and you can choose to "edit with,... word". From there you can save the file using microsoft word. I tried it, but the layout is a little messed up, so it may be better to save it directly from the browser.

Another possibly useful feature, is to click the "Thread Tools" link at the top of the posts in any thread, and select to view the "Show printable version".

These are for saving it to your hard drive, however, there is another option.... and that is to keep a "Favorites/Bookmarks" list of the threads you like. Again, click the thread tools link, from there select the "subscribe to this thread" option. You can define wether you would like an email sent to you, each time there is a new post...... or you can choose "no email notification". From that point on, a link to that thread will be shown in your "subscribed threads" folder, in your User CP of the forum.

That way, you don't have to download every single page.... and you can search the thread online.

Asaw Br Mahmood,
if u r still wanting a solution to tht,
i'd like to gv one :p

try saving the page from ur browser, but not wid the "WebPage Complete"
in the Save as type : , but as "Web Page - HTML only".
tht saves only the text u want from the thread, n saves space too.
try tht n let me know if tht works.
Wassalaam,
