View Full Version : Pope Kisses Quran
This is something I have given a great deal of thought to.

I guess the question is, how much can we validly compromise with the aim of achieving peace.
It is quite apparent that there is a clash of cultures, between Islam and Christianity.
Both are special in so far as they claim to possess the absolute truth.
Ofcourse we are here sharing this planet, and so as Christians we are asked to love our brothers. Ofcourse that calls for according respect to other faiths.
Does kissing the Quran compromise our beliefs in Christ?
Is this the right way forward?
Your thoughts

Indeed this is a tragedy, I dont blame the pakis for being skeptical.
I am too.
It is my hope that we all stop doing things like this, whether it is the Saudis who do it to the Bible.
Or we who do it to the Quran.

May Allaah curse the americans the heart of Fa'saad and evil!
May Allaah subhannhu'wat'allaah reward thos who stand up and fight aggression!
Hawk, i agree to a extent with you. In no way whatsoever is it permissable for a muslim to compromize his deen to improve interfaith relations. And i assume this is the same in christianty.

Actually improving interfaith relations happens to be a core tenet of our deen.
Thus you might say that a balance must be struck in order that both objectives are maintained.
Respecting the beliefs of another , does not compromise the Truth of our faith.
What matters is the attitude with which it is done, if its done with the aim of improving interfaith relations then we must persevere, just as long as it does not compromise the Truth, as the Bible teaches it.
The Truth will convict us, maybe we will win over people through compassion where war has failed. God leads us always.
On a side note, the Saudis have been doing this to the Bible for the longest time, yet we choose not to say anything, because they buy our politicians with Oil.
Once the Oil runs out, the christians will demand a change from their politicians.

The saudis have been doing what? Kissing the bible?!!!!

Oh no, they have been desecrating the Bible.
They get Christians who are caught worhsipping, since non-islamic worship is forbidden in saudi arabia, to stamp on the Bible, to tear it up and such.

And your proof for these claims? Exactly, all lies and utter rubbish.

Salaam Hash,
you saying its rubbish does nto make it so.
Its well documented in human rights agencies.
As well a person I know who was flying in to work on an oil rig was forced to deface the Bible or face arrest in Jeddah Airport.
The man refused and flew out in the next plane.

Nah bro, that is unislamic. No Muslim should desecrate, or even give a dirty look at the Bible. One thing we have in common, that in this rising tide of atheism and agnosticism, and who knows what other isms, we still believe in God. So for that, we should work together, to make these guys believe IN GOD! THAT is the biggest threat to both our religions at the moment.

akhee Hash
it is the custom of the aalu saud to do what hawk said. They do not kiss the bible but they do what he said. You have been looped by those takfeeris intobeleiving that the saud family are obstinate kuffar, (by whcih the ulema have not said such a statement as tyheir beleifs had been examined).
In an actual Islamic state, we do not trach the bible like that, as many come to do. WHen the prophet tolf Umar why was he reading the torah, he stayed shut. The propeht then told him "if musa alaih isalam was alive he would follow him right now" so this hadeeth shows the irrelleovance of the previous revelations (as they were aborgated by the Quraan) but at the same time he didnt command the prophet to burn the bible though.
To be honest I dont see why the muslims would over react to the imbecilic behavior of the disbeleivers. It is more befitting to recieve proper reward for what they did to Allah and Allah is not at all unjust.
akhee Haroon, I think we should have a one on one discussion o faith (emaan) as it seems that you group anyone who beleives in God as having emaan that Allah and is messeneger described as faith.

Salaam Al-Izaaree.
Man, Ron is right, you are wound up way too tight.

I still dont see how any of the ulema have the right to call anyone a kaffir ~ examined or otherwise.
as it seems that you group anyone who beleives in God as having emaan that Allah and is messeneger described as faith.
Next time i see you, ill give u a back-hander Izaaree, such words i have never uttered, nor implied. All i said was that we should join to PROVE that God exists ~ im talking philosophically here, not religiously. You can believe in God, but still not believe if you get me, so i cant possibly sanction such a statement as you are accusing me of!
