Assalaamu aleykum everyone :)
My Islamic name is Safiyah. I converted to Islam in August 2010, alhamdulillah. Since I don't know so many Muslims, I thought I'd become a member here to gain knowledge and maybe meet some Muslim sisters, inshaAllah :)
Hope you are all doing well!

Waleykumussalam sis, Islam is truly a blessing. Congrats on your decision, and may the Almighty guide all of us to His path!

Salaam and Greetings Peace sister Safiyah.
Dawah of Islam is compulsory on every Muslim. Allah the Most High says : "By (the Token of) time (through the Ages), Verily Man is in loss, Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy." .....(Holy Quran, Surah al Asr 103 : 1-3)
Muslims should invite non-Muslims to love Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) so that the Almighty will love them in return. They can show their love to Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) by being rational and sincere in their search for Truth. If they do so, they will find that verily, Islam is the True Religion from Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala). Insha Allah, He will open their hearts to Islam as He is the One Who gives Islam to those whom He loves.
Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’ala) tells us: “Those whom Allah wills to guide, He opens their breast to Islam. Those whom He wills to leave straying, He makes their breast close and constricted, as if they had to climb up to the skies; thus does Allah lay abomination on those who refuse to believe.” .......... (Holy Quran 6:125)
Allah’s Messenger (sallallâhu ‘alayhi wasallam) says in the following Hâdîth: “Allah Most High has allotted you your characters just as He has allotted you your provisions. Allah Most High gives worldly things to those whom He loves and those whom He does not love, but He gives religion only to those whom He loves, so he who is given religion by Allah has been loved by Him. By Him in Whose hand my soul is, a man is not a Muslim till his heart and tongue are submissive, and he is not a believer till his neighbor is safe from injurious behavior on his part.” .......... (Hadith,Tirmidhi 4994)
It is the responsibility of the Muslims to do dawah of the truth of Islam.
Allah the Most High says : "Say: O ye that reject Faith! I worship not that which ye worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship. And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship, Nor will ye worship that which I worship. To you be your Way, and to me mine." ....(Holy Qur'an, Surah Kafiroon)
These words have been said to the disbelievers / Kafir which means "one who conceal or reject the truth of Islam". A person can reject Islam only if it is presented to him. How can he reject the truth if it is never presented to him? These words are to be said after a person rejects Islam.
Allah the Most High says : "Let there be no compulsion in religion: truth stands out clear from error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand hold, never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things." ....... (Holy Quran, Surah Baqara 2:256)
The verse says that there should be no compulsion in religion. No person can be forced to accept Islam. The Truth is clear from Falsehood and truly those who accept the truth have the biggest helper. When we do Dawah we are simply inviting the person to accept the truth we are not compelling him or her to accept Islam.

Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way.
