63:5 And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allah will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant.

assalamualaikum

what does "ta3lo" mean? they approach the prophet and ask him to ask Allah for forgiveness?

can it mean to ACCEPT Islam and obey the rasul (pbuh)?

example:
Sahih International: And when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger,"

so can the "ta3lo" in 63:5 mean accept Islam, then prophet (pbuh) will pray for your forgiveness.

The verse is addressing the hypocrites, i.e. those that rejected the Prophet (S) because of some personal grudge that he (S) was now the leader of Medina. The act of the person coming to the Prophet (S) to ask for forgiveness, shows that the once hypocrite has rid himself of the prejudice and has come to the Prophet (S) to admit his mistakes. The Prophet (S) praying for them acknowledges that he (S) is happy with them and has forgiven their own mistakes, asking Allah to forgive them.

The verse also shows the Prophetic attitude, i.e. the believers themselves understood how caring the Prophet (S) was. They are telling the hypocrites that all they have to do is come to the Prophet (S) and he will readily pray for them, despite all they have done.

Salaam,

G A Parwez, interprets this ayah as:

When they are asked to come forward and admit their omissions and deficiencies, so that Allah's Rasul may seek protection for them through the devine system, they turn away. They wait a while and then walk away in arrogance.(Surah 63:5)
